Internet Dance Party! or, how I spent my Friday night
I logged into SmallWorlds on Friday intending to pull ten random people into the Peach Pit to complete the Dance Party mission, but while hanging out in my house, my pal Monsanto portaled in to tell me that there was a party-hopping crew already together, making this (shockingly) among the easiest missions so far. Witness the resulting madness:
For the sake of completeness, here’s a clip of the Peach Pit party:
I didn’t catch a video of it, but I had no music in my house, so early revelers produced a pretty hilarious “song” using the world’s sounds (whistling, “lol”ing, clapping, and so on).
Lessons learned:
- create a less lame dance (mine is basically doing the moonwalk in place)
- purchase boombox for home
- even zombies can dance, although they will still crave your brains while doing so
- close down all other programs when more than five people start interacting in one house, because your MacBook Pro will overheat and burn you

Joy to the SmallWorlds
Thanks to an extremely generous gifting by Mitch Olson, I was able to complete my hedge maze design! Thank you!!
For now I have limited my maze to a single room; it’s very tempting to let it creep into the rest of the house like an insistent little vine, but I will keep it pruned for now. If anyone wants to visit it, pop into the Peach Pit and have a seat on the bench. (Be sure to sign my guestbook when you arrive!)

I heart SmallWorlds

Me and virtual Evey (sporting a fetching pink cow-cat hat), chilling in my soon-to-be hedge maze.
After my friend Twittered about SmallWorlds the other day, I signed up for their open beta (a decision partly influenced by the girl in Bruce Lee/Kill Bill garb on the front page). It was already late at night when I got started, and I thought I’d sign up, pop in and play a few games, and hit the sack. Instead, I stayed up til 3 AM exploring the world, taking missions, forming teams to help other players complete their tasks and customizing my room.
